Frequently Asked Questions > answered here
Who chooses what goes into the box?
Our flower people hand choose what goes into your box. They base this on what is popular in the market combined with what represents Value too.
How many bunches in a box?
Depending on the size of the box that you choose. this is outlined when you purchase your box.
Are the flowers locally grown or Imported or both?
The flower market that we select flowers from deals in both imported and locally grown flowers. It's a real combination. It depends on what is readily available locally at the desired quality & quantity at the time vs what is needed to be bought in. It's a fact in the world today that a country like Australia sadly cannot grow everything it needs based on the demands of its consumers. Geographical challenges such as average temperatures and elevation from the Sea also predispose some countries to producing bigger, stronger flowers than we can here in Oz. A lot of people get caught up in the argument that we shouldn't be selling imports because they come from countries with "cheap labour". Although this is true, what also has to be remembered is that there is a Huge freight component to goods shipped via Air from other countries, some as high as $5.50kg USD. So, it's a bit of a furffy to think that just because a flower is grown in say Vietnam, Ecuador or Malaysia that it can be sold dirt cheap here in Australia dramatically undercutting the local suppliers.
Does the cost of flowers fluctuate during the year?
Yes, just like seafood, flowers have their peak periods where prices are sky high. Take Valentines Day & Mothers Day, its normal to see a price increase of X2 or even X3 some years. As a general rule when the weather is colder the flowers are more expensive because mother nature produces less. In the warmer months flowers tend to be cheaper as the earth is producing more.
How many stems to a bunch?
Bunch sizes vary depending on the Grower, Variety and time of year.
Can I choose the colours or varieties?
If you would like a particular colour theme or Pallette to your flowers simply choose a box colour pallette that would suit your needs.
How long will the flowers last?
Flower lastability is dependent on 3 factors. 1) Flower Life Cycle 2) Physical Environment 3)Ongoing Care
1)The flowers natural life cycle varies with the variety. Some flowers only last 3 days and some upto 14 days.
2) Physical Environment - Where they are placed (ie your home & it's temperature. If there is direct sunlight on them they will wilt. The Type of Vase & the cleanliness of the water in it. Even things like constant airconditioning can shorten certain flowers life span.
3) Ongoing Care - Flowers that get their stems recut every couple of days of at least 5cm and are then placed back into a clean vase of ambient temperature water which is in a well lit but not in direct sunlight or heat of a near window will always perform better.
What if they aren't home to receive the flowers?
That is quite normal. Our delivery partners are used to leaving parcels at homes in the safest, most weather suitable spot they can find. Normally at the front of the house or building, under cover if it's possible.
Can I send to a work place?
Yes you can send to a work place. We deliver to many different types of buildings.
What if I'm not happy, can I get a refund?
Your purchase is backed by our GROWER BOX guarantee. If for any reason you are not happy simply let us know with a photo and explanation of the problem and we will refund you. Please note:- we do not refund solely based on a persons dislike of a certain type of flower only on a flower product failure issue.
Can I cancel this at any time?
There is no lock in contract with GROWER BOX. You may cancel at any time and once the next box of flowers has been delivered we will cancel your membership.
Can I put the flowers on pause if the person is going on holiday?
Absolutely. We love holidays too. Feel free to advise our customer support team and they would be happy to put it on hold for you for a maximum period of 8 weeks.
How can I upgrade to a more frequent delivery?
Simply just choose the subscription that is best for you. Because many GROWER BOX members send flowers to multiple recipients, you simply have to cancel the recipient for whom the frequency needs to change & then choose a different subsciption.
What days do you deliver the box of flowers?
Whilst our aim is Wednesday (mid week) as that is the broadest and most commonly available day for most areas, we may deliver 1-2 days either side of this. It gets down to our delivery partners and what they can offer. That is why we recommend this membership is not for a particular day, but rather an ongoing expression of emotion.
When is ordering cut off for the current Weeks Wednesday delivery?
This depends on the region the flowers are going into. The best general answer is that if you purchase a membership before 5pm Thursday, the first box should arrive on the very next Wednesday.
What happens at Peak periods Like Mothers Day, Valentines Day & Christmas?
The GROWER BOX is not designed to target a specific occasion or day. During peak periods the GROWER BOX will deliver outside of the peak period of that week as the pricing of flowers also sky rockets due to pressure on demand. Our customer support team can easily answer any question you may have with relation to delivery day around a peak period.
What areas do you deliver to?
Australia Wide is our Aim. We have multiple supply partners and are always working to expand our box network and reach. The website will indicate to you if your postcode is serviced by us or not.
